CHICAGO – Chicago State University men's track & field recorded six top-10 finishes on April 13-14 at the 23rd-annual Lee Calhoun Invitational, hosted by Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill.
CSU finished in ninth place and scored 27 points in the meet, while Marquette edged Augustana (Ill.) by a 160-157.50 margin to win the team title.
Sophomore Kelvin White (St. Petersburg, FL/Lakewood) (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and senior Jershawn Dubose (Chicago, Ill.) finished 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles with White crossing the finish line at 14.67 and Dubose recording a time of 14.74.
Senior Robert Holmes (Chicago, IL/Leo) (Chicago, Ill.) finished ninth in the shot put after recording a throw of 45-3.50 and senior Jamal Ephraim (Hazel Crest, IL/Lincoln College) (Hazel Crest, Ill.) placed 10 th in the 200-meter dash after posting a time of 22.57.
White, Ephraim and Dubose later teamed with senior Uri Kuyoro (Harvey, Ill.) to finish second in the 4x100-meter relay after producing a time of 41.21. In the 4x400 relay, sophomore Jeremy Anderson (Springfield, IL/Lanphier) (Springfield, Ill.) joined White, Kuyoro and Ephraim to place 10th at a time of 3:30.65.
Next up for the Cougars is a trip to Chicago's North Side for the DePaul Invitational this weekend at Lane Stadium.
