CHICAGO – Chicago State University volleyball kicked off its home schedule here tonight at the Jacoby Dickens Center as it fell to visiting Indiana State in three sets by scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-16. The Sycamores improved their season record to 8-5, while the Cougars dropped to 1-14.
Senior Mazvita Maziveyi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hillside (NC)) (Harare, Zimbabwe) led the Green and White with 13 kills. Freshman Emily Kramolisch (Bolingbrook, IL/Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill.) tallied a match-best 33 assists and added three service aces, while junior Rachel Levitt (Willow Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) (Willow Springs, Ill.) added eight kills.
Sophomore Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.) and junior Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich.) paced the Cougar defense with 10 digs and four blocks, respectively.
Indiana State was led by sophomore Monique Morris' match-high 14 kills and four service aces, sophomore Lori Mackinson posted 30 assists, and senior Kiya James notched a match-best 12 digs.
The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. with a non-conference contest against Green Bay.
