Michael Bugielski returns to Chicago State as the new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

CHICAGO – Michael Bugielski was recently hired as the head strength and conditioning coach at Chicago State University. He returns to CSU after spending the past five years as a personal strength and conditioning coach in which he coached local collegiate and professional athletes.

Bugielski, who began his duties on July 1, will work closely with all 14 CSU varsity sports, concentrating on comprehensive training programs that emphasize speed, strength and flexibility.

“After following CSU for the last decade, I’m excited to return to Chicago State where my family is alumni of the university,” said Bugielski. “I am here to win championships and I believe that we have the nucleus to do so this season and beyond.”

Before heading into the private coaching business, he served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at UIC for the 2004-05 school year, where he worked with all sports for the Flames.

Bugielski previously worked at Chicago State as the department’s strength and conditioning coach from 2002-04. During the first tenure at CSU, he also worked as a sports performance coach at the Chicago Bulls-White Sox Training Academy in 2003

In addition, he has assisted in the pre-conditioning and testing with the Chicago Blackhawks and worked as an instructor in Kinesiology at Wright College in 2001-02.

Bugielski received his master’s degree in Kinesiology/Physical Education from CSU in 2005, earned his certificate in kinesiology from UIC in 2001 and his bachelor’s degree in English from Illinois State in 1995.
