EDINBURG, Texas – The Chicago State women's golf team finished its 2009-10 campaign here today after placing sixth at the second-annual Great West Conference Championships, held at the Edinburg Golf Course and hosted by the University of Texas-Pan American.
The Cougars posted a two-day total score of 1,178 through 54 holes of play, while Houston Baptist recorded a team score of 974 to capture the team championship.
Winning the conference's individual medalist honors was Gaia Colese from HBU after she recorded a total score of 237 and posted the tournament's low score of 75 in the first round of competition.
Leading CSU was freshman Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Plantation, Fla.) as she completed her first NCAA campaign by placing 13th after recording a total score of 257 that included posted an 83 in the final round.
Sophomore Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo./Golden) (Golden, Colo.) finished in a tie for 17 th place as she carded a score of 261, while senior Tessa Harp (Valencia, CA/College of the Canyons) (Valencia, Calif.), in her final collegiate competition, placed 21st in the tournament with a three-round score of 274.
Junior Hanya Minta (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) (Eden Prairie, Minn.) rounded out the scoring for the Cougars by finishing in 29th place.
