Waldon Nets Second Great West Player of the Week Award

Junior Courtney Waldon captured her second Great West Conference Player of the Week honor after recording a double-double last week against Utah Valley
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Chicago State University women’s basketball player Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, Wis.) netted her second Great West Conference Player of the Week award of the season, the league announced Tuesday afternoon in a press release. This is the fourth time that a CSU player has captured the weekly honor during the year.
Waldon, a 6-2 junior forward, posted a double-double for the second straight game as she tallied 23 points and equaled her career high for rebounds with 12 in a 72-59 home win over Utah Valley on Jan. 28 at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center. She shot 7-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and connected on 7-of-8 from the free throw line in addition to posting two blocked shots versus the Wolverines.
Waldon currently leads CSU with 13.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 0.7 blocked shots per contest. She has recorded in double digit scoring efforts in nine of CSU’s last 10 games with five games over 15 points and three 20-point games.
The Cougars continue their three-game homestand at the Jones Convocation Center on Thursday evening against Houston Baptist in a conference showdown beginning at 5 p.m.
