Cross Country Selected Eighth in Great West Conference Men's and Women's Preseason Polls

CHICAGO – Chicago State cross country was recognized by the Great West Conference in the league’s inaugural preseason poll released on Thursday evening by the conference office.
Both teams were picked eighth in their respective polls by scoring 10 points each, while Utah Valley were the preseason picks to win both titles with 63 points for the women and 62 points for the men.
Texas-Pan American and Houston Baptist tied for second in the men’s poll with 46 points, respectively, while South Dakota placed fourth with 42 points and Seattle was fifth with 36 points. NJIT captured sixth place with 26 points followed by North Dakota with 20 points for seventh.
In the women’s poll, South Dakota claimed second place with a score of 49 points, edging third-place North Dakota by two points. Texas-Pan American was fourth with 37 points, while Seattle scored 32 points for fifth place and Houston Baptist was sixth with 31 points. NJIT claimed seventh with 19 points in the poll.
The Cougars open the 2009 season on Sept. 5 at the UIC Home Opener in Chicago.
