Jonathan Sutjiadi claimed Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week honors on Thursday
CHICAGO – Chicago State men’s tennis player Jonathan Sutjiadi (Jakarta, Indonesia) claimed Mid-American Conference Co-Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Thursday in a press release. Sutjiadi shared the award with Ball State’s Eduardo Pavia. It is the first weekly honor for Sutjiadi and the first for Chicago State this season.
The senior helped the Cougars begin a season-best three-match winning streak on March 9 when he captured a singles and doubles win in a close 4-3 home victory over Youngstown State.
He teamed with sophomore Aumir Ahmad to claim an 8-5 victory in No. 2 doubles which gave CSU the double point. Sutjiadi followed that by posting an early 6-3, 2-0 lead in his No. 1 singles contest before his opponent retired in the second set for the match win.
The Cougars (3-5, 0-2) return to action on April 1 with a road match at Olivet Nazarene in Bourbonnais, Ill.
