CHICAGO – Chicago State baseball announced the recent signing of Gavin Trevino (East Kentwood, Mich.) to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Cougars beginning with 2010-11 school year.
Trevino is the first signee for the Cougars and more signings will be announced down the road.
After spending his first three years at Jenison (Mich.) High School, Trevino will enter his final prep season as an infielder for East Kentwood High School. He earned all-conference and all-district honors at Jenison after batting .370 this past spring in addition to batting .340 during his sophomore season.
In addition, Trevino also played summer league ball with current CSU freshman infielder Christian Prince as members of the West Michigan Elite.
“Gavin is the type of kid that we were looking for to be a part of this program,” CSU assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Neal Frendling said. “He's got a blue collar attitude when it comes to baseball and it also doesn't hurt that he is a talented hitter, too.”
