HTML BoxGalesburg, Ill. - The Western Illinois Leathernecks defeated the Chicago State men's tennis team 5-2 on Sunday (April 13) at the Lakeside Recreation Facility.

Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) scored two victories for the Cougars in singles and doubles. He defeated Max Cederkall 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and won in doubles with partner junior
Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) 8-4 over Chris Bunch and Brett Furmanski.

Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) won 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Brandon Meeker at No. 4 singles to pick up the other Cougars point.

Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/) 6-2, 6-4. Mitch Granger took down junior
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Bunch upended Ulloa 6-2, 6-2. Furmanski scored a 7-6, 7-5 victory over freshman
Uros Pajic (Smederevo, Seribia/Maple Valley).
In doubles play, Haertel and Cederkall edged Pajic and Yeremia 8-7. Granger and Meeker won 8-5 over Chavez and Noboa to clinch the doubles point for the Leathernecks.
The Cougars saw their record fall to 5-20 on the season while Western Illinois improved to 2-15. Chicago State will host Valparaiso on Tuesday (April 15) before the wrapping up their season at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) tournament (April 25-27).
