Homewood, Ill. – Despite singles victories from juniors
Sergiu Muresan (Roman, Romania/) and
Mario Noboa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador/), the Chicago State men's tennis team lost 5-2 to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club on Friday afternoon (Feb. 21).
Muresan defeated Andrea Boglic 4-6, 7-6, 10-6 at No. 1 singles while Noboa took down Lovro Curcija 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 3 singles.Â
South Dakota State won the remaining four singles matches. Parker Lawley defeated freshman
Uros Pajic (Smederevo, Seribia/Maple Valley) 6-2, 6-0. Mateis Moreira beat junior
Julian Chavez (Bogota, Colombia/) 7-6, 6-1. Henrique Pereira won 6-1, 6-2 over junior
Luis Ulloa (Guayaquil, Ecuador/) while Gary Notkin took care of junior
Rashley Yeremia (Jakarta, Indonesia/) 6-2, 6-1.
The Jackrabbits won all three doubles matches to pick up the doubles point. Lawley and Moriera took home an 8-6 victory over Muresan and Noboa. Boglic and Curcija won 8-1 over Ulloa and Pajic. Notkin and Lucas Pereira had an 8-4 win over Yeremia and Chavez.
The Cougars fall to 0-9 in the spring season while South Dakota State improved to 6-3.
Jack Barton's squad gets right back on the court tomorrow (Feb. 22) to take on WAC opponent Grand Canyon at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Club. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.Â
