Hickman and Peatross Net All-Tournament Honors as Chicago State Places Third at Great West Conference Women’s Golf Championship

Senior Brianna Hickman closed out her collegiate career in grand fashion by capturing First Team All-GWC Tournament honors after leading CSU with a 228 to finish fourth individually.

CHICAGO – The Chicago State University women's golf team finished off its season on April 23-25 as it  placed third at the Great West Conference Championship, hosted by Utah Valley University, at the Alpine Country Club in Highland, Utah.

The Green and White produced a score of 932 (313-309-310) through 54 holes of play to capture third place in the conference for the second straight year while finishing ahead of Texas-Pan American (fourth) and North Dakota (fifth). As a team, CSU produced its three lowest scoring totals since being a member of the Great West and produced a school-record scoring total through 54 holes.  

Houston Baptist tallied a score of 904 that included a 298 in the second round to win the team title, while Utah Valley's Lynn-Marie Nagel shot a 222, including a 69 in the first round, to capture medalist honors.

Senior Brianna Hickman (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson) (Tucson, Ariz.) paced CSU in the tournament by carding a score of 228 with a career-low 72 in the final round to finish fourth individually and captured first team all-tournament accolades. Hickman recorded an eagle and six birdies while posting a 4.33 average on par four holes and a 4.58 average on par five holes.    

Thanks to posting six birdies and 32 par putts, sophomore Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) (Lansing, Mich.) tallied her personal-best total through 54 holes by scoring a 230, which included carding a career low-tying 76 in the final 18 holes. She was named second team all-tournament for her efforts and averaged a 3.17 on par three scoring.

Junior Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Plantation, Fla.) and sophomore Brooke Melvin (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) (Temecula, Calif.) finished in a tie for 11th place with each golfer scoring a 237 in the tournament. Rosado carded a 77 in the second round, while Melvin scored a 76 in the second round and a 79 in the first round of play. 

Rounding out the scoring was junior Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) (Torreon Coah, Mexico) as she finished with a three-round score of 247 to finish in a tie for 17th place.
