CHICAGO – The Chicago State men's golf team produced a seventh-place finish at the Butler Fall Invitational, which finished play Tuesday, at the Highland Country Club in Indianapolis.
The Cougars recorded a two-day score of 951 through 54 holes that included shooting a 307 in the second round of play.
Senior Lorne Boutte (Richton Park, IL/Rich South) (Richton Park, Ill.) paced the Green and White by carding a score of 225, highlighted by an even-par 70 in the second round and finished the tournament with a 73 to finish 31st.
Junior Josh Worely (Calumet City, IL/Home School) (Calumet City, Ill.) and freshman Dan Cronin (Evergreen Park, IL/Evergreen Park) (Evergreen Park, Ill.) tied for 41st place after recording a score of 249, while freshman Brandon Skelding (Black River Falls, Wis./Black River Falls) (Black River Falls, Wis.) placed 43rd with a score of 252 and junior Tim Mercer (Gary, Ind./Roosevelt) (Gary, Ind.) placed 44th after posting a score of 268.
IUPUI came back from a deficit in the second round to edge the host Bulldogs, 849-853, to capture the team title, but BU's Andrew Wegeng recorded a 208 to win medalist honors.
The Cougars return to action this weekend with the John Diallo Memorial Invitational, hosted by DePaul, in Lemont, Ill.
