CHICAGO – Chicago State men's golf continued its fall season with the John Diallo Invitational, hosted by DePaul University, on Oct. 8-9 at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, Ill.
The Green and White produced a score of 1,014 through three rounds of play to finish the tournament in 15th place.
Leading CSU was senior Lorne Boutte (Richton Park, IL/Rich South) (Richton Park, Ill.), who finished in a tie for 50th place after recording a three-round score of 237 and shot a 71 in the opening round. Boutte also shot three-under-par on par five holes by producing an eagle during the first round.
Freshman Dan Cronin (Evergreen Park, IL/Evergreen Park) (Evergreen Park, Ill.) carded a score of 248, which included a season-low 77 in the second round, to finish in a tie for 64th place.
Senior Josh Worely (Calumet City, IL/Home School) (Calumet City, Ill.) placed 75th with a score of 261 and junior Tim Mercer (Gary, Ind./Roosevelt) (Gary, Ind.) placed 77th after posting a score of 268. Freshman Brandon Skelding (Black River Falls, Wis./Black River Falls) (Black River Falls, Wis.) also competed in the tournament for CSU.
Florida Gulf Coast edged Missouri by three strokes (873-876) to win the team title, but the Tigers' Emilio Cuartero claimed medalist honors after producing a score of 213.
Chicago State is back in action on Oct. 17-18 with the Dayton Fall Invitational in Kettering, Ohio.
