CHICAGO – The Chicago State volleyball team continued its four-match homestand tonight with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-8) Great West Conference defeat to South Dakota at the Jacoby Dickens Center.
The Coyotes improved to 7-16 (4-2) on the season, while the Cougars' record dropped to 0-24 (0-8).
Junior Alexandra Mason (Beaverton, OR/Harper College) (Beaverton, Ore.) led the Green and White with eight kills and four blocks (one solo, three assisted) in addition to posting a .462 hitting clip, and freshman Valeria Desiderio (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) (Chicago Heights, Ill.) also posted eight kills and added 10 digs.
Senior Hanya Minta (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) (Eden Prairie, Minn.) dished out 20 assists and junior Leslie Williams (Phenlan, CA/Lake Land College) (Phelan, Calif.) notched 11 assists for CSU.
Leading South Dakota was sophomore Kim Bulaga, who recorded a match-leading 14 kills and added eight digs, while freshman Amber Aschoff contributed seven kills and four blocks (two solo, two assisted). Freshman Tori Kroll produced a double-double with a match-best 24 assists and 11 digs, and junior Carol Logato also recorded 11 digs.
The Cougars are back in action this Saturday afternoon as they face defending GWC champion North Dakota in a conference contest at the Jacoby Dickens Center beginning at 2 p.m.
