Women’s Basketball Loses at Home to Eastern Michigan, 83-64

CHICAGO (Dec. 21, 2009) –
Chicago State women's basketball opened a three-game homestand here tonight with an 83-64 loss to Eastern Michigan at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center. The Cougars dropped to 4-10 with the loss while the Eagles improved their season record to 9-2.

Junior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) came off the bench to nearly post her first collegiate double-double as she tallied a pair of season highs with 15 points and nine rebounds. Senior Laureen Pierson (Dayton, OH/Northmont) (Dayton, Ohio) added 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.

Junior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and senior Alyssa Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) each added 11 points, sophomore Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) posted a game-high six assists and junior Elana Wroten (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) grabbed eight rebounds for the Cougars.

Junior De'Ja Wills paced Eastern Michigan with 19 points and sophomore Raina Spencer added 17 points. Junior Cassie Schrock recorded 15 points, while junior Kristin Thomas posted nine rebounds and sophomore Paige Redditt added seven boards.

CSU returns to action on Dec. 29 when it hosts Central Arkansas to the Jones Convocation Center with the start time set for 7 p.m.
