Women’s Basketball Falls at Home to Dayton, 82-51

Sophomore Natalie Marlowe scored a season-best 10 points in Saturday's home game against Dayton

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's basketball continued its four-game homestand on a somber note Saturday afternoon as it fell to nationally-ranked Dayton by a score of 82-51 at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center. The Cougars dropped to 2-4 on the season, while the Flyers improved to 5-1 on the year.

CSU was led by sophomore Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) with 10 points on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line, while sophomore Jael Peña (Harlem, N.Y.) recorded nine points and a game-high four assists and senior Alyssa Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) also scored nine points.

Senior Nicole Clark (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield) (West Bloomfield, Mich.) posted a game-high seven rebounds and junior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) tallied a game-high three blocked shots for the Cougars.

Sophomore Justine Raterman scored a game-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field to lead three Dayton players. Senior Kendal Ross added 13 points and went 8-of-8 from the charity stripe, and redshirt sophomore Elle Queen posted 12 points and seven boards.

CSU welcomes Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan to the Jones Convocation Center Monday evening for the third game of its current homestand with the tip-off set for 7 p.m.
