CHICAGO (Oct. 7, 2009) – Chicago State women's golf concluded play at the Butler Fall Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Eagle Creek Golf Course in Indianapolis with a ninth-place finish in the two-day tournament after shooting a score of 643.
Eastern Illinois shot a total score of 617 to claim the team championship while medalist honors went to Marian (Ind.) University's Angela Gauck after she shot a 141 for the tournament that included a 70 in the final round.
Leading CSU in the tournament was freshman Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Ponce, P.R.), who earned a third-place finish after shooting a two-day total of 149, including a school-record 72 in the first round, after garnering medalist honor in last weekend's dual match versus Green Bay with a 78.
Senior Tessa Harp (Valencia, CA/College of the Canyons) (Valencia, Calif.) and freshman Sophie Shearer (Lytham, St. Annes, England/Fairhaven Secondary School) (Lytham, St. Annes, England) each carded identical scores of 136 to tie with Samantha Hainline of Western Illinois for 36th place.
Sophomore Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo./Golden) (Golden, Colo.) produced a two-day score of 168 (84-84) to place in a tie for 51st place, and freshman Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) (Torreon, Coah, Mexico) rounded out the scoring for the Cougars by tying for 61st place after recording a score of 172 (84-88).
Next up for the Cougars is a trip to Wisconsin to compete in the Green Bay Fall Classic on Oct. 12-13 at the Green Bay Country Club.
