Men’s Cross Country Closes Regular Season at Bradley

Senior Arturs Bareikis posted a time of 27:07 at the Bradley XC Classic

CHICAGO (Oct. 19, 2009) – The Chicago State men's cross country team battled through a cold and damp Newman Golf Course in downstate Peoria to compete in its regular season meet at the Bradley University Cross Country Classic as a tune up for the upcoming Great West Conference Championship meet.

 

Leading the Cougars in the eight kilometer race were senior Arturs Bareikis (Oak Forest, IL/Robert Morris (Ill.) University) (Oak Forest, Ill.) and freshman Matthew Jordan (Suffield, OH/Field) (Mogadore, Ohio). Bareikis recorded a personal record time of 27:07, while Jordan earned a PR time of 27:10 in the meet.

 

Also competing in the race and setting PR times for CSU was senior Anthony Davis (Gurnee, IL/North Park University) (Gurnee, Ill.), senior Scott Balcer (Palatine, Ill.), senior Joseph Leyendecker (Richton Park, IL/Rich South) (Richton Park, Ill.), junior Daniel Fleming (South Holland, IL/Thornwood HS) (South Holland, Ill.) and freshman Luc Faron (St. Peters, Mo.).

 

The Cougars now prepare for the Great West Championships, hosted by NJIT, which will be held on Oct. 31 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. with a start time of 8:30 a.m.
