CSU Cheerleaders



CSU CHEERLEADER RULES AND REGULATIONS

Cheerleading at Chicago State University is fun and challenging. We place emphasis on academic excellence as well as athletic ability. The CSU cheerleader team brings spirit to the women and men basketball games. It shall be the purpose of the CSU cheer team to promote and uphold team spirit for those we encounter. 

Cheerleading is a sport and cheerleaders are athletes! 

ELIGIBILITY 

To try out for the CSU cheer team all individuals must have a cumulative G.P.A of 2.0 or better. Any full-time student in good standing may try out for the CSU cheer team.

REQUIREMENTS

Floor Cheer
During clinic you will be taught a floor cheer that you have to perform in front of the judges. 

Jumps 
You will be asked to execute the following:
• Toe touch
• Front or side hurdler 

Stunting

• Half-extension
• Cradle dismount
• Additional extended stunts

Dance

• During clinics one cheer dance will be taught
of approximately 24 counts. You must execute this
dance individually in front of the judges.
You must be physically fit and capable of performing
the required material for tryouts. 

NEW INFORMATION 

DRESS CODE
Please arrive ON TIME and dressed to represent CSU by
wearing green and white shorts, t-shirts, tanks & tennis shoes.
• Long hair must be tied up neatly.
• All jewelry must be removed (no
exceptions). 

PRACTICE

Practice will be decided upon at the beginning of the school year depending on practice space and availability. Practice is usually M, W, and Th from 7:30pm-9:30pm but, times are likely to change. 

SCHOLARSHIPS
There are no scholarships currently available for CSU cheerleaders. We are currently fundraising to help pay for camps, classes and future traveling expenses.
