Brooke Melvin (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) carded a second consecutive 78 during a windy final round of the inaugural CSU Cougar Classic Presented by Swingbyte on Tuesday (Sept. 18). Melvin helped Chicago State finish seventh 644 (318-326) in the 15-team tournament at Harborside International Golf Center.
Melvin's second round 78 put her at 156 for the tournament, tying her for ninth overall.
Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) improved her day one score by two strokes to finish with a 160 (81-79) and in 22
nd place. Freshman
McKenzie Parks (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) tied for 26
th thanks to a 163 (76-87). Senior
Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) (Lansing, Mich./Holt) tied for 49

Lorelle Weavers (Burlington, Ont./Lester B Pearson) (Burlington, Ont.) played as an individual, tying for 49
th by shooting a 167 (81-86).
Indiana Sate won the tournament 631 (315-316). Valparaiso's Kelly Voigt won the individual title (75-69=144).
“Yesterday we put ourselves in position to compete for a championship, but today we struggled a bit,” head coach Kyle Stefan said. “Everything we're doing right now, mistakes we're making, they are correctable. We led the field in pars yesterday, we were pretty close today. We need to get away from big numbers and three puts.”
The Cougars return to the course on Sept. 24-25 at the Cleveland State Invitational.
