CHICAGO - Chicago State University head volleyball coach Bob Eskew announces today the release of the program's 2012 schedule which begins in late-August. The Green and White will participate in four tournaments and an eight-match Great West Conference slate.
CSU opens its tournament slate in Iowa City, Iowa on Aug. 24-25 for the Iowa Invitational against the host Hawkeyes, Valparaiso, South Dakota State and Southeast Missouri State before kicking off its eight-match home schedule at the Jacoby Dickens Center against Judson University on Aug. 28.
The Cougars then head East to Baltimore for a tournament at Coppin State on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 where they will face off against North Carolina A&T, Bryant, Youngstown State and the Eagles. CSU makes its way to Oxford, Ohio on Sept. 7-8 for the Miami (Ohio) Invitational where it will take on the host RedHawks, Temple and Indiana State followed by a mid-week road match at rival Western Illinois on Sept. 11.
After competing in the Loyola Invitational on Sept. 14-15 versus host Loyola, USC Upstate and DePaul, the Green and White travels to Dayton, Ohio for a mid-week contest at Wright State on Sept. 18 and welcomes Houston Baptist to the Dickens Center on Sept. 29 in its Great West opener.
The month of October begins with CSU competing on three consecutive days beginning Oct. 5 at UIC followed by back-to-back home matches against NJIT (Oct. 6) and IUPUI (Oct. 7).
The Cougars then hit the road for three weeks as part of a six-match road swing with contests at Green Bay (Oct. 9), Houston Baptist (Oct. 11), Texas-Pan American (Oct. 13), Utah Valley (Oct. 19), Cal State Bakersfield (Oct. 20) and NJIT (Oct. 27) before concluding the month at home against Valparaiso on Oct. 30.
CSU opens the month of November at the Dickens Center with its final three home matches against Western Illinois (Nov. 6), Texas-Pan American (Nov. 8) and Utah Valley (Nov. 11). The Cougars will head to Orem, Utah for the fourth-annual Great West Tournament, which will be hosted by Utah Valley.
Eskew welcomes back five letterwinners from last season's team in seniors Rachel Levitt (Willow Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) (Willow Springs, Ill.) and Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich.), junior Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.), and sophomores Angelica Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Mia Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.).
