Women's Basketball Earns Third Seed at Great West Tourney

Senior Alyssa Waldon and third-seeded Chicago State will battle host Utah Valley to open the Great West Tournament
CHICAGO – Chicago State women’s basketball will head into this week’s inaugural Great West Conference Tournament in Orem, Utah as the third seed, the conference announced Sunday night following the conclusion of the conference schedule.
The Cougars, who finished third in the regular season standings with a 7-5 record and 12-18 overall, will battle host Utah Valley in the quarterfinals this Thursday at the UVU Events Center with a start time of 8:30 p.m., Central Time.
CSU captured both meetings with UVU this season with a 77-54 win in Orem on Jan. 9 and a 72-59 win in Chicago on Jan. 28.
In other quarterfinal games on Thursday, fourth-seeded South Dakota and fifth-seeded NJIT will face each other at 3:30 p.m., followed by second-seeded Texas-Pan American taking on seventh-seeded Houston Baptist at 6 p.m. Regular-season champion North Dakota earned a first-round bye and will face the USD-NJIT winner Friday afternoon at 12 p.m.
