Amber White produced a pair of top-ten finishes at the Chicago Duals, including a third-place showing in the 55-meter hurdles

CHICAGO – Chicago State women’s track & field team produced a successful run at the Chicago Duals on Jan. 30 at the University of Chicago’s Henry Crown Fieldhouse as seven athletes recorded at least two personal records in several events.

Freshman Amber White (Locust Grove, Ga.) led CSU with a pair of top-five finishes and PR times that included finishing third in the 55-meter hurdles and also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a PR time of 28.30.

Another freshman Tosin Idowu (McDonough, Ga.) posted two PR records and top-ten showings in the 55-meter dash (sixth) and the 400m (ninth) for the Cougars in the meet, while sophomore Neshia Robertson (South Holland, Ill.) posted a personal-best time in the mile run by crossing the finish line at 6:05.59.

Sophomore Triejaye McDowell (Chicago, Ill.) and junior Jasmine Allen (Chicago, Ill.) each posted PR times in the 200m and 400m races, and sophomore Markesia Taylor (Chicago, Ill.) also recorded a personal-best time in the 200. CSU’s 4x400-meter relay team of Robertson, Idowu, Allen and sophomore Lanesha Sutton (Lansing, Ill.) placed seventh in the event.

In the field events, junior Peggy Moore (Toledo, Ohio) finished seventh in the high jump, while freshman Essence Wisdom (Joliet, Ill.) also set personal records in the shot put (32-3.50) and weight throw (29-2).

“The University of Chicago Duals was a bigger challenge for the team because they were more competitive. Many of the ladies set personal records and I am proud of their successes.  We are on the target to peak at the Great West Indoor Championships at the end of February,” said CSU head coach Diana Muhammad. “I look forward to seeing more personal records and hopefully new school records set this season.”

CSU heads to South Bend, Ind., this weekend to compete in the annual Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame at the Loftus Center. The meet begins Friday evening at 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
