CHICAGO – Junior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded her second consecutive double-double within a week as she posted 23 points and 12 rebounds in leading host Chicago State to a 72-59 victory over Utah Valley Thursday in a Great West Conference contest at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The Cougars improved their season record to 8-14 (3-2), while the Wolverines fell to 4-17 (0-4) on the year. CSU jumped out to an early 13-1 advantage in the first seven minutes of the game en route to a 34-15 halftime lead.
Senior Alyssa Waldon (Sun Prairie, Wis.) added 14 points and went 5-of-6 from the free throw line, while sophomore Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, Wis.) posted 10 points. Sophomore Janay Dockery (Detroit, Mich.) notched eight rebounds, six points and five assists.
Utah Valley was led by senior Julie Smith’s game-high 24 points. Sophomore Jenna Johnson contributed 14 points, while senior Asumi Nakayama posted eight points with six assists and three steals.
CSU continues its homestand on Thursday, Feb. 4 with a Great West Conference game against Houston Baptist as part of Homecoming week with the tip-off set for 5 p.m.
