CHICAGO – Chicago State women’s golf opened its 2009-10 season on Sept. 5 on a good note with a 323-333 victory over rival Loyola at the Chi-Town Showdown, held at Lost Marsh Golf Course in Hammond, Ind. The victory was the second straight for the Cougars over the Ramblers in the burgeoning series.

Senior Tessa Harp (Valencia, Calif.) led CSU in the dual match as she posted a four-over-par 76. She shot a 35 on the back nine to edge Loyola’s Rachel Mayer by one stroke to earn medalist honors.

Sophomore Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo.) recorded an 84 for the match, including a 38 on the front nine to finish in a tie for fifth place, while freshman Sophie Shearer (Lytham, St. Annes, England) captured eighth place with a score of 85.
