HAMMOND, Ind. – Chicago State women’s golf endured a cloudy day here today at the Lost Marsh Golf Course as it concluded the final 18 holes of the PTSIR Golf Performance Classic. The Cougars finished eighth in the 10-team tournament after producing a two-day team score of 675.
Butler recorded a team score of 628 to capture the team title led by medalist Molly Fields, who shot a 153 to tie for top individual honors with teammate Michele Nash, but captured a sudden death playoff for the win.
CSU was paced individually by freshman Andrea Rosado (Ponce, P.R.), who finished in a tie for 14th place after shooting a 163 for the tournament which included posting a 78 in the first 18 holes.
Continuing her improvement from her freshman season, sophomore Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo.) shot a two-day total of 166 and posted an 81 on the first day of competition en route to finishing in a tie for 18th place.
Senior Tessa Harp (Valencia, Calif.) produced a score of 169 (81-88) to finish in a tie for 29th place and freshman Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico) carded a two-day score of 177 (86-91) to place 43rd in the tournament for the Cougars.
Rounding out the scoring for CSU was freshman Sophie Shearer (Lytham, St. Annes, England) as she turned in a score of 184 (88-96) to earn a tie for 49th place.
The Cougars are idle in tournament play until Oct. 5-6 when they stay in the state of Indiana to compete in the Butler Fall Invitational which will be held in Indianapolis.
