Men’s Golf Joins America Sky Conference for 2009-10

CHICAGO – Chicago State University athletics has announced that the school's men's golf team has joined the America Sky Men's Golf Conference beginning with the upcoming 2009-10 school year.

The America Sky Conference was created in the summer of 2007 with programs from the America East and Big Sky Conferences and later added a pair of NCAA Division I Independent schools in Texas-Pan American and Utah Valley. The first-ever conference championship event was held in 2007-08 and Sacramento State captured the crown last year.

The Cougars along with fellow Great West Conference schools Houston Baptist, North Dakota and South Dakota will join current conference members Binghamton, Hartford, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, UTPA and UVU. The third-annual America Sky Championship will take place on April 2010 in Edinburg, Texas.

CSU recorded a third-place finish at the inaugural Great West Conference Championship this past spring in addition to garnering a pair of Second Team All-Conference golfers in senior Chris Blankenship (Oak Lawn, IL/Moraine Valley CC) and sophomore Andrew Pleasant (Louisville, KY/Ballard).
