CHICAGO, Ill. – Chicago State's
Dian Mayasari (Tulang Agung, Indonesia/St. Thomas Aquino) was named the 2007-08 Independent Freshman of the Year when the All-Independent Women's Tennis teams were announced Monday afternoon.
Mayasari who finished the season with a 9-2 overall record also garnered Second Team All-Independent Singles honors. Also garnering Second Team Singles honors was Yosefin Rustandar.
Joining Mayasari on the All-Independent team was sophomore
Golda Rubina (Jakarta, Indonesia/Budi Murni) who was named to the All-Independent Singles First Team. Rubina finished the 2007-08 campaign with an impressive 10-1 record.
“I am very proud of what the young ladies have accomplished this season,” said first-year head coach, Troy Toole.“ “I have demanded a lot of the team, and they worked very hard and have dedicated themselves to the sport. With more matches scheduled for next season, I can definitely see more accolades in the future.”
Mayasari and Rubina weren't done as the duo was also named to the All-Independent Doubles First Team, finishing the season with a perfect 11-0 doubles record.
The 2007-08 NCAA Division I All-Independent Women's Tennis Team was selected by Sports Information Directors and head coaches at NCAA Division I Independent Institutions.
